Methodology

From evidence to implemented, measurable value.

Every engagement starts with a bounded management decision and ends with ownership, first use and a review mechanism. The report packages the evidence; the real product is a better decision and a system that works in practice.

The delivery method

Five gates from question to sustained use.

Each gate has a decision question and exit evidence. Work does not move forward merely because an activity took place.

  1. 01

    Frame

What decision must this work enable?

Define the management question, scope, sponsor, access, intended benefit and success measure.

Exit evidenceApproved decision question and evidence plan.
  2. 02

    Assess

What is observed, perceived, missing and uncertain?

Combine stakeholder perception, documentary evidence and operating results. Keep limitations and confidence visible.

Exit evidenceTraceable findings with an explicit evidence boundary.
  3. 03

    Decide

What changes first, who owns it and what will it require?

Leadership selects priorities, assigns owners and resources, and agrees measures and acceptance criteria.

Exit evidenceDecision log and funded action charters.
  4. 04

    Implement

Can the management mechanism work on a real case?

Configure the governance, workflow, portfolio practice or measure; train the owner and run it live.

Exit evidenceA live-use record that produces a decision or evidence trail.
  5. 05

    Improve

Did the change work and can the client sustain it?

Review the baseline, adoption, benefits and residual risks; adjust the mechanism and transfer ownership.

Exit evidenceHandover, review cadence and a 30/60/90-day improvement backlog.
Evidence discipline

Three lenses. Never one misleading score.

Maturity, confidence in the evidence and readiness against relevant requirements answer different questions. They stay separate so leaders can see both what appears strong and how defensible that conclusion is.

0–4

Maturity

How consistently and effectively is the practice operating?

1–3

Evidence confidence

How defensible is the conclusion across the available sources?

Readiness only

Requirement status

Is a relevant ISO 56001 requirement demonstrably addressed?

Ask The Innovator uses the ISO 56000 family as a reference architecture. We do not issue accredited certification, promise conformity from a self-assessment or inflate an engagement with irrelevant standards.

Customer value standard

What every paid engagement must leave behind.

A report is evidence packaging. Value is created when the work improves a decision, installs a usable mechanism and leaves proof that it has been used.

01

Decision

One explicit management choice, or a documented blocker and owner.

02

Evidence

Traceable observations, perceptions, gaps, uncertainties and limitations.

03

Management asset

An approved and owned mechanism, not merely a presentation.

04

First use

A real meeting, initiative or workflow cycle using the new mechanism.

05

Measure

A baseline, metric owner, cadence and first review date.

06

Handover

Named accountability, dependencies and a scheduled review.

How the offers connect

One commercial path, proportionate to the decision.

  1. 01

    Assess Mini

    Creates relevance

A self-reported signal and proportionate next step.

  2. 02

    Assess Snapshot or Assess 360

    Creates a trusted decision

Evidence-backed priorities, owners and action charters.

  3. 03

    Improve or Build

    Installs the mechanism

A configured management practice used in the client environment.

  4. 04

    Activate

    Turns use into evidence

Participation, adoption and portfolio choices inside a sound system.

Source basis

Reference architecture, applied pragmatically.

The method draws on recognised innovation-management guidance while remaining an original Ask The Innovator commercial and delivery design. Standards deepen a material client question; they do not replace judgement, evidence or implementation.
